about

One of the 'bible verse' songs, something in between 'Safe Happy Christian Music for the Conservative Middleclass' and the 'Contemporary Christian Muzak' songs.
This one is based on Ezekiel 16:49 and some basic themes of the gospels.
This version differs radically from the 'We are Civilised!?' version, but I always had a more indie-folk version in mind, but I was never able to materialise it before.

lyrics

These were the sins of your sister sodom
she was overfed and underconcerned
looking down on the poor she did not help the needy
A straight abomination according to the prophets

woe to you rich if you cling to your stuff
said the Christ himself to a mass of followers
love of money is the root of so many sins
and selfseeking pride will exclude you from Love itself
(like a fallen archangel)

Overfed and underconcerned…

Looking down on the poor, not helping the needy…
